This Saturday the league season kicks off as our Men’s 1st XV face Doncaster Phoenix 3pm here at Woodhead Park.

Doncaster Phoenix join the Regional 2 North East league as a bit of an unknown quantity following a tough season last year when they were relegated from the league above. I'm also unsure if our 1st teams have ever met previously.

Despite Saturday's loss, Brods can take a great deal from last week's bruising Yorkshire Cup tie with Cleckheaton. There will be a few selection changes however as we did pick up some injuries. The team news will be on the website on Friday.

Before the match, between 1pm and 2pm, there will be a Woodhead Buffet available as Ryan serves up his signature Lasagne, and Pesto cherry tomato penne and mozzarella pasta bake - all with dressed salad, homemade chips and coleslaw.

Immediately after the match, from 5pm onwards, there will be a Start of Season BBQ available, out on the patio. There will also be live music from Brodstocker Jimbo Lynch and a free bouncy castle for the kids on the pitch.
