Last Men's and Ladies home matches, Six Nations on the big screen

As the season moves into its closing stages for our seniors we welcome the players supporters and officials of Pocklington RFC on Saturday and Huddersfield Laund Hill on Sunday.

Saturday
Men's 1st XV - Brods v Pocklington, 2.15pm
Our visitors from Feathers Field have had some difficult fixtures in recent weeks with losses to Crossleyans, Bridlington and Dronfield. They were victors in our previous encounter this season, back in September, and of course this fixture has been rearranged following December’s postponement due to a frozen pitch. Injuries have hit us hard in recent weeks and despite encouraging performances at Brid and Moortown which produced bonus points despite losses, and our home win over Scarborough, our remaining three fixtures are all away and your support will be important in carrying our young team over the line.

Saturday’s matchday sponsor is Reloc8 Estate Agents whose HQ is just down the road in Hipperholme, also with a branch up in Queensbury. They are great supporters of the club and a partner of our summer extravaganza Brodstock (….don’t forget that tickets to the music festival go on sale two weeks today!!). Whilst I thank them for their support we can also congratulate Chris and his team as they recently picked up the Gold accolade for the area at the British Property Awards crowning them as the best Estate Agent in Halifax!

Six Nations on the screens around the clubhouse:
Italy v Ireland (2.15pm) and Wales v England (4.45pm)

Sunday
Ladies XV - Brods v Huddersfield Laund Hill, 1pm kick off
On Sunday our ladies team entertain Huddersfield Laund Hill in their final game of the season and kick off is 1pm. Congratulations to Nick Akerman, Bob Dare and the coaching team and of course the players who officially won promotion following last week’s success over Aldwinians. The squad has continued to strengthen and grow throughout the season and I’m sure they’re all looking forward to the challenge of Tier Five rugby next season as the head to the NC 3 North league.

Winning the league is always a wonderful achievement but how they’ve done it is even more impressive.

England Rugby has been compiling the results of all of the clubs within England. This includes men’s, women’s, professional and grassroots, and pulled some interesting stats comparing all of the mentioned against each other.

Old Brodleians Ladies XV is currently top in the country for Average Points Per Game, with a massive 56 points averaged per games this season. With over 4,000 rugby union teams in England split across the men’s and women’s sections alone this shows pure domination.

Six Nations on the screens around the clubhouse:
France v Scotland (3pm)
